I have further leave to remain in the uk as a spouse then i apply for ILR when can i apply for citizenship?
my partner and i moved to the uk. in may two thousand and six. He is a British citizen. I came here on a working holiday visa which expired in may two thousand and eight. I then married my partner and now have limited leave to remain from april two thousand and eight which ends in april two thousand and ten. After that I will be applying for indefinite leave to remain. Will i have to live in the U.K for another year after that so i may be entitled for U.K. citizenship. Or will I be eligible for citizenship immediately after I have applied for indefinite leave to remain as I have lived in the country on a working holiday visa for two years prior to my marriage. Does that or can those initial two years form part of the three year mandatory stay in the U.K. before i can successfully apply for citizenship or do those two years don't count ? I am very confused, is there anywhere i could phone for the right advice as the u..k border agency website outlines general stipulations for marriage, residency and citizenship. Thanks danielle
