What could make my wheel wobble or bounce while driving?

i have a 97 dodge intrepid, front wheel drive, i jacked it up to remove the driver side front wheel and noticed that there is alot of play in it. and when i drive it it wobbles a little bit and kinda bounces when you hit the brakes...my question is...what could be making this happen, could it be the spindle or the wheel bearings... please help me narrow this down
