Please help me with my frist pet turtle?

today i bought a 3 month old baby aquatic turtle it likes to be held so i hold it for a while and let it walk on my bed then i put it back in its little tank i do take it out to get sun because i know turtles like to bask in the sun the guy at the store gave me food for it and his pond has a little place where u put the food he has not eaten yet and i was wondering if thats ok and if he will know how to find his food that he doesnt starve i really want to take good care of speedy thats his name because he was runnin all around my bed so if you have any tips or suggestions please tell me thank you for your help and speedy thanks you to
